t approximately 11 o’clock Monday night, April 5, 2010, DeFuniak Springs Police received a 911 call concerning an armed attack taking place at the Chevron on US Highway 331 South.
The victim, a 60 year old white male, reported he was waiting outside of the store to give one of the employees a ride home. While filling his tires with air he was approached from behind, a gun stuck in his face, and a man’s voice saying “give me your money”.
Once the victim yelled out for help, he was struck in the back of the head with what is believed to be the butt of the gun. The suspect, a black male described by witnesses to be bald, and about 6 foot tall and weighing approximately 200-250 pounds, then fled on foot running through the Lowe’s parking lot, adjacent to the scene.
The victim was transported to Healthmark Regional Hospital for medical attention. The DeFuniak Springs Police is conducting an ongoing investigation. If anyone has information pertaining to this incident please contact the DFS Police at (850) 892-8513.
