DeFuniak Springs, FL (April 13, 2010) – Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Biernacki,
arrested a female on drug charges during a traffic stop on Interstate 10, Monday night. Deputy
Biernacki observed a white four door car driving east bound with no headlights on, well after the sun had set. The Deputy
moved in behind the vehicle at the 85 mile marker, the vehicle turned on their headlights just before pulling onto the
shoulder of the DeFuniak Springs exit ramp.
Upon making contact with the driver of the car, the Deputy asked to see license, registration, and proof of
insurance. The driver provided the Deputy with all the documents and was identified as Dusty Lynn Fry, of DeFuniak
Springs. Fry told Deputy Biernacki she was coming from “her Wal-Mart in Crestview,” and was on her way to her
boyfriend’s house. When questioned why she drove to Crestview to go to Wal-Mart, instead of going to the one in town,
Fry answered, with a shaky and inconsistent tone, that the Crestview store was better.
Deputy Biernacki advised Fry he was writing her a warning but he was about to run his dog. Fry asked the Deputy
“you are going to run your dog?” The Deputy confirmed his statement and Fry dropped her head and added “you got me
I’m done.” Deputy Biernacki advised Fry to stay calm and stand with Deputy Curtis who had arrived as backup on the
Canine Deputy Nero, certified narcotics detection Canine, was deployed to conduct a sniff of the vehicle’s
exterior. Nero alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of narcotics. Fry said she would get what she had and give it
to the deputy, she pulled a small Crown Royal bag from the side pocket of a purse, and a glass pipe with residue fell from
the bag. Deputy Biernacki advised Fry to step back and allow him to gather the remaining items. A plastic baggy
containing approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine was located inside the same purse. Upon completion of a vehicle
search the Deputies located a Wal-Mart bag containing receipts, coffee filters, two boxes of pseudoephedrine, 2-hundred
sixty-nine dollars, and other paperwork.
Fry was transported to the Walton County Jail and is facing charges for drug possession of a controlled substance
(Methamphetamine), possession of narcotic equipment, possession of listed chemical for manufacture of a controlled
