GULF SHORES, Alabama -- Learning to fly is tough work, and sometimes you just need a break.
Thankfully that's the worst that happened to a juvenile bald eagle this morning, who briefly stopped traffic on Windmill Ridge Road in Gulf Shores.
A volunteer with Share the Beach, Alabama's sea turtle conservation program, called Gulf State Park naturalist Kelly Reetz to report a possibly-injured eagle sitting the road. The volunteer feared that the bird had been hit by a car.
Reetz and her husband came out to investigate, and discovered the fledgling bald eagle, sitting tired but uninjured in the road.
