Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies were called to a residence located on Windflower Street in DeFuniak Springs after a neighbor saw a man attempting to pry open a window.  The neighbor told deputies they saw the man (later identified as Nathan Jung, W/M, 4/22/1978) walk up to the residence and knock on the door.  After receiving no answer, Jung then walked around the side of the residence and was looking in the windows.  The neighbor stated a short time later they heard a loud cracking noise and the observe Jung attempting to pry the window screen open.  At that point the neighbor called deputies.  Upon arrival deputies caught Jung coming out of the rear of the residence with items in his hand.  Deputies apprehended Jung without incident.  Deputies then made contact with the owner of the residence who advised that they did not know Jung and that no one should be in their house.

Sheriff Adkinson stated “This is a great example of citizens and deputies working together to fight crime.  Without the help of this citizen this crime may have not been solved”.

Jung was charged with burglary of a structure, criminal mischief, and grand theft.  He was then booked into the Walton County Jail.
