At 3:17 am Sunday morning Andalusia Fire Department and Andalusia Police Dept responded to a reported house fire at 401 Packer Ave, That is at the corner of Cawthon St and Packer Ave. The resident a Ms. Betty Hattaway was inside the house and was taken out by at this time an unknown person. When police and fire personnel arrived it was reported that the home was fully involved. The house was a total loss as was a Car parked next to it that belonged to the resident of the home. 2 outside storage buildings were also damaged as was the home next to it on Packard Ave. Once the Fire Department arrived it was noted that there was a Gas leak along the side of the home. Fire Command requested an evacuation of the adjoining homes around the home that was burning for their safety. The Fire Dept quickly gained control of the fire and within minutes were putting out a few hot spots and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time andas where the resident of that home might be staying now that everything in that home and the home itself was a total loss. There were No injuries reported. Andalusia Fire Department, Andalusia Police Department, Covington County Sheriffs Deputies and Advance EMS responded to the scene.
