Jordan Kristie Douglas, age 3, of Andalusia died Sunday February 23, 2014.Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Thursday February 27, 2014 at Bradley Assembly of God Church with Reverend Adam Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bradley Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Jordan is survived by her mother, Jessica Elaine Douglas of Andalusia, sisters, Haley Vendetti of Andalusia, Mallory Douglas of Wing, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Douglas of Milton, FL, maternal grandparents, Gail (John) Defee of Luverne, AL, James (Lora) Gibson of North, SC, maternal great grandparents, Charles and Mary Owens of Brantley, AL, Edward L. and Darlene Gibson of Andalusia, Jim and Shirley Hitt of Statesville, NC, maternal great-great grandmother, Vera Foster of Freeport, FL.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Antioch Congregational Church with Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating, interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2013 at Foreman Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Scripture Truth Baptist Church. Reverend Carol Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at Scripture Truth Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Sunday September 8, 2013 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Frankie McVay and Reverend Roger Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Baker, FL with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Reverend Kilpatrick is survived by his wife, Joan Kilpatrick of Andalusia, daughters and son-in-laws, Lisa (Altra) Ward of Conyers, GA, Kay (George) Prussaca of Eagle, WI, sons and daughter-in-law, David Kilpatrick of Andalusia, Michael (Tara) Kilpatrick of Andalusia, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren,, brothers, Rex (Irone) Kilpatrick of Andalusia, Leslie Ray Kilpatrick of Andalusia, and Larry Kilpatrick of Andalusia.

Visitation will be Saturday September 7, 2013 from 6 to 8PM at Foreman’s and after 2 PM Sunday at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Virginia Mills

Mrs. Virginia Mills passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, in a local nursing facility. She was 94.

Virginia, a native of Skipperville, AL, was the daughter of the late Christopher C. Baker and Lillie L. Baker. Also predeceasing her were step-mothers, Kate K. Baker and Jennie W. Baker, sisters, Mabel Baker, Lois Morton, and Olive Baker, and brothers, Pearson Baker and Douglas Baker. She is survived by her son, Ernest F. (Juliana) Mills of Birmingham and daughter, Nancy Robbins of Andalusia, grandchildren, Natalie Moore of Mobile, Oliver Mills of Birmingham, Bethany (Billy) Polk of Prattville, and Kirk (Suzanne) Mills of Birmingham, nieces, Jann Nance of Asheville, NC, and Marlo (Bill) Bixby of Skipperville, nephews, Oliver (Cindy) Morton of Silver Springs, MD, Larry Baker and Bill Baker of Skipperville, and six great grandchildren.

Virginia was a 56 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia. She was a graduate of Auburn University and earned a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Tennessee. She taught school for several years at Skipperville Junior High School. She worked as a social worker with the Alabama Department of Human Resources for over 40 years, 27 of them as the Director of the Covington County office.

During Virginia’s retirement she enjoyed participating in church activities, volunteering at Andalusia Regional Hospital for 10 years, playing bridge, and visiting family and friends.

Her interment will be a private family service at Skipperville Community Cemetery with Rev. Tim Trent and Rev. Freddie McCain officiating. Pallbearers will be Oliver Mills, Kirk Mills, Larry Baker, Bill Baker, William Polk, and Walter Polk.

A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday Sept. 7, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church sanctuary with ministers Tim Trent and Freddie McCain officiating. Visitation will begin at10 AM in the church Fellowship Hall.

He was preceded in death by Sister Barbara Higgins, Ellen Tisdale, Mary Clyde Patrick, and Brother Robert Brawner.

Mr. Brawner retired from the United States Postal Service as a postman. He served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Elected as an Andalusia City Counsel he served in that capacity from 1992 to 2000. During his retirement years, he became an avid golfer. Mr. Brawner was known by his family and friends for his love for his country and his attributes that made him a true southern gentleman.
