Mrs. Ethel Gantt Sanspree, 88, of Andalusia, passed away Tuesday February 12, 2013 in Foley, AL.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday February 15, 2013 from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Coldwater Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 PM Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Mr. Jimmy Wayne Blanton, 65, of Andalusia, passed away Monday February 11, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday February 15th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 AM Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Blanton of Andalusia; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Steven Prevett and Nancy and Jeremy Wilson, of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Peyton Prevett, Lane Prevett, Jack Wilson, Julianne Wilson; his sisters and brother-in-law, Alice and Wayne Kessenger of Charleston, SC and Pat Helms of Rock Hill, SC; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Freida Blanton of Mobile.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blanton.

Kenneth Owens Nichols (July 27, 1940 - October 3, 2012)

Mr. Ken Nichols, age 72 of Andalusia died on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 am at Foreman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Bobbie Nichols of Andalusia; one son and daughter in law, Todd and Maxine Nichols of Pelham, Ala.; one daughter and son in law, Kim and Tim Cano of Charlotte, N.C; two grandchildren, Casey and Ally Nichols; one brother and sister in law, Sam and Ellen Nichols of Dothan, Alabama; a brother in law, Greg and Kathy Hughes of Dothan, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nichols was a life long resident of Covington County and a graduate of Andalusia High School and Troy State University. He taught school at Pleasant Home and at Andalusia High School back in the 1960 -70 era. He was very instrumental as a Key Club advisor for 27 years and received the nickname “Chief” during that time. Mr. Nichols served on the Andalusia City Council and was a member of the Board of Directors of Covington Electric Coop for 33 years and was Covington Electric’s representative to the PowerSouth Energy Cooperative Board of Directors for 12 years.

The family will receive friends at 10AM Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home

Mrs. Oda Ree Peevy, 91, of Wetumpka, formerly of the Andalusia area, died Tuesday October 2, 2012 in a Montgomery Nursing facility.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday October 5th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Old Bethesda Cemetery in Loango.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Joe Small of Millbrook, AL and Shirley and Dewayne Radford of Simpsonville, SC, two sons, Jimmy Peevy of Atlanta, GA and Ricky Peevy of Wetumpka, AL, a brother, Marcus Lambert of Mobile, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Voncile Nelson Lawson, 73, of Andalusia, died Monday October 1, 2012 in the Crestview, FL Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Thursday October 4th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Calhoun and Bro. Porter Harris officiating, burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Tom Stephens, Bonnie and Bubba Lawson, of Andalusia, Dalina and Carlos Badillo of Madison, MS, her son, Daniel Lawson of Dothan, AL, grandchildren, Thomas Stephens of Atlanta, GA, Matt McCain, Jamie Boone, and Brittney Boone, all of Madison, MS, her sisters, Alice Walker of Andalusia and Kathleen Miles of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lawson, her brothers, Buddy and Joby Nelson, and sister, Ruby Henderson.

Rev. Neal Wyatt, age 81 of Andalusia passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m., until time of services. Dr. Fred Karthaus, Rev. Larry Cummings, Rev. Pat Nobles will officiate. Pallbearers will be representatives from the Armed Forces. Honorary pallbearers will include all members of the Barachias Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and all ministers of the Covington Baptist Association. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Keahey Funeral Home will be directing.

Rev. Wyatt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kittye Wyatt of Andalusia Two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan Mark and Michelle Wyatt of Zephyrhills, Florida Timothy Deneal and Jana Wyatt of Opp Six grandchildren, Heather Wyatt of Nashville, Tennessee Michael Wyatt of Palm Harbor, Florida Sydney and Hannah Wyatt of Zephyrhills, Florida Anna and Ashlyn Wyatt of Opp

Rev. Wyatt served as the Director of Missions for the Covington Baptist Association from 1984 to 2000. During this time, one of his accomplishments was leading the association to begin the Christian Service Centers in Andalusia, Opp and Florala. Rev. Wyatt also had served the Crenshaw, Carey, Clay and Randolph of Alabama Baptist Associations. He was a graduate of BBI (Baptist College of Florida) with degrees in Theology and Religious Education. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and retired from the United States Navy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Covington Baptist AssociationScholarship Fund, or the First Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.
